Your data rights under GDPR
What the Right to be Forgotten means – and how it works with Thrive
Your personal data is exactly that – personal. And you’ve got the right to control how it’s used. At Thrive, we follow GDPR rules to protect your data and make sure it’s always handled clearly, carefully, and respectfully.
Here’s what you need to know.
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a law that protects your personal data across the UK and EU.
It sets out how organisations like Thrive can collect, use, store – and delete – personal information. It’s been in place since 25 May 2018, and applies to any company managing personal data.
What is the ‘Right to be Forgotten’?
Under GDPR, you can ask us to delete your personal data in certain situations. It’s called the Right to be Forgotten.
You can make a request if:
- We no longer need the data for the reason we collected it.
- You’ve withdrawn your consent (if that’s how we got it).
- You object to how we’re using it, and there’s no legal reason to keep it.
- The data was handled incorrectly.
- The law says it needs to be deleted.
Does this apply to pensions?
Sometimes – but not always.
Pensions are subject to strict legal rules. That means we may need to keep some of your data for longer, especially when it comes to:
- Meeting legal or tax obligations.
- Calculating or paying your pension.
- Handling legal claims or disputes.
If we can’t delete certain data, we’ll always explain why.
How to ask for your data to be deleted
If you’d like to make a Right to be Forgotten request, here’s what to do.
Get in touch with our Customer Support team or our Data Protection Officer. When you contact us, include:
- Your full name.
- Your employee ID or reference number (if you have one).
- What data you’d like us to delete.
- Why you’re making the request.
We’ll look into it and get back to you within one month. If we can’t delete some or all of the data, we’ll explain why clearly.
